VoxPill v1.2.1 — cross-platform subtitles
VoxPill 1.2.1 — macOS experience alignment
macOS Apple Silicon and Intel now use the same animation and raster renderer as
Windows: a 36 px four-bar orb, 260 ms entrance, spring expansion up to 440 px,
45 ms character reveal, accelerated recognition bars, and a 340 ms shrink/fade
exit. The Mac adapter handles Retina scale, input-window monitor placement,
native non-activation and click-through presentation. Both themes are recorded
as native-window animations during package validation.
Mac settings now record key presses/chords directly, with re-record, default,
cancel, temporary event suppression and live application of the saved binding.
Mac labels use Control/Option/Command. The menu-bar icon follows system theme;
an optional per-user start-at-login toggle is included.
Before insertion, Mac restores the original input window and focused control
through Accessibility, failing closed for invalid targets. Clipboard failure
falls back to Unicode typing. Existing offline ASR, audio guards, clipboard
options, Enter option, single-instance lock and cleanup remain in place.
Verification includes a 276-frame reference generated from the published Windows
1.1.1 animation, unit tests for capture/focus/login behavior, native ARM64/Intel
builds, rendered animations and package smoke tests. Actual third-party input
applications, physical microphone/keyboard, permission approval and multi-monitor
behavior still require hands-on Mac acceptance. CI success alone is not that acceptance.
Install the correct Mac archive into Applications. Grant Microphone and
Accessibility/Input Monitoring permissions as prompted. The app is still
unsigned/not notarized because no Apple Developer ID is configured. Linux
remains at its existing X11 subtitle feature level; this update aligns Mac.
VoxPill v1.1.1 — cross-platform subtitles
VoxPill 1.1.1 — subtitles on every supported desktop
macOS (Apple Silicon / Intel) and Linux X11 now show live transcript subtitles,
including recording status, character-by-character previews, final recognition
and automatic dismissal. Native panels stay above other windows without taking
keyboard focus or intercepting mouse clicks. Long text keeps the newest words
visible; new recordings replace older sessions without stale text flashing back.
macOS uses a non-activating AppKit panel; Linux uses Tk with X11 input and window
shapes. GUI helpers run on their own main thread in a subprocess and exit when
VoxPill exits. No new GUI framework dependency is needed.
Native package checks exercise rendering, Chinese/English text, focus retention,
click-through window settings, final display, stale sessions and auto-dismissal.
Render captures are retained as GitHub Actions artifacts. These automated checks
do not replace hands-on microphone and desktop acceptance.
Linux still requires an X11 session, PortAudio, Tk and xclip. Install a CJK font
if Chinese glyphs are absent (Ubuntu: sudo apt install fonts-noto-cjk). Native
Wayland is not supported. On macOS, grant Microphone and Accessibility permissions;
the app remains unsigned/not notarized. Keep the original input window focused
until recognition finishes on macOS/Linux.
VoxPill v1.1.0 — cross-platform preview
VoxPill 1.1.0 — cross-platform preview
Windows x64, macOS Apple Silicon / Intel, and Linux x86_64 (X11) are built on native
GitHub runners and published together after tests and package smoke checks pass.
Models are included; recognition runs offline.
- Windows retains the native transcript overlay, recorded hotkey settings and installer.
- macOS adds physical hotkey polling, Command+V insertion and a menu-bar app.
- Linux X11 adds physical hotkey polling and clipboard insertion.
- macOS/Linux store settings and logs in writable per-user directories.
- On macOS/Linux, keep the original window focused until decoding finishes;
insertion is cancelled if focus changes. Hotkey settings accept names such as
ctrl_r,f8, orctrl_l+shift_l+space.
Preview limitations and setup
macOS/Linux do not yet have the Windows transcript overlay. Native Wayland is
not supported. Linux requires PortAudio, Tk, xclip and an X11 desktop; a desktop
tray with menu support is optional (otherwise run the binary in a terminal).
On Ubuntu: sudo apt install libportaudio2 python3-tk xclip.
On macOS, move VoxPill.app into Applications and allow it in Privacy & Security
under Microphone and Accessibility; Input Monitoring may also be needed.
The app is not Developer ID signed or notarized. Use Finder's Open action and
the Privacy & Security approval UI if macOS blocks first launch.
Automated tests do not establish real-microphone or target-application behavior
on all desktops. macOS/Linux remain preview quality pending hands-on acceptance.
VoxPill 1.0.3 — 自定义录音快捷键
VoxPill 1.0.3
自定义录音快捷键

VoxPill 1.0.2
VoxPill 1.0.2
- Keep recognition on Windows HighQoS so startup-launched background sessions do not fall onto EcoQoS execution-speed throttling.
- Add per-recognition gate, decode, punctuation, and total latency diagnostics.
- Reduce long-transcript overlay fitting from a linear suffix scan to a bounded binary lookup.
- Suppress preview hallucinations and final injection when the hotkey captures only silence or steady background noise.
The ASR models, text injection behavior, hotkey, and preview cadence are unchanged.
