    I don’t understand why the Git user’s manual never makes it into these lists – it’s really rather good (and of course if you think you can improve it, send a patch/RFC to the Git mailing list).

    I agree with asb, Git is NEVER in the user manual. I learned a lot about Git & patch/RFC from the degree I got through the excellent site below:
