• Back to Subversion

    defunkt Apr 01

You may have noticed things have slowed down around here. Sure, the site’s getting faster, but where are the new features? Well, it’s time to unveil what we’ve been secretly working on these past few weeks: SVNHub.

Yes, that’s right! Git is too new, too big of a change, and too hard to explain to my parents. We’re moving back to Subversion and all of you are coming with us.

What about the rest of us who are so eagerly waiting for CVS support?

    • seangeo 21 minutes later

Awesome! I can’t wait for CVSHub, or maybe RCSHub?

Finally! This git thing really got to my nerves. SVN is what development was ever all about: one trunk to rule them all.

Good idea. This distributed stuff gets too messy.

Oh man, +1 for tarhub. Any kind of organized version control should be left to the young folks.

Sweet, is lighthouse integration all good to go on svnhub?

    • expilo about 4 hours later

What I’m really bothered is how insecure your site is. Going back to svn will not change that. All these public and private keys are rubbish. You know what! If you really want to do it the proper way you should not accept commits without confirmation by fax.

    • yesudeep about 4 hours later

Uhh, yeah. If you try to explain git the way its users manual does, there’s not going to be any doubt that your parents won’t understand it. Besides, git is not aimed at your parents. It’s aimed at practical developers. Going back to SVN is really going to solve so many problems, ain’t it? Good luck with that. We’re out of SVN for good. You’re right. Going back to SVN is the biggest decision you’ve made around here, so good luck walking back into nightmares. I’m out of this Website.
