Plots are resized unpredicably when using a GUI backend and the figure size is larger than the screen. The backends should provide a scrolled area in this case.

This is a tough one to resolve -- at present the GUI determines the size of the figure, not the other way around. This may need to be a configuration option, but we should discuss how it should look.
