Animated sprites have pixels replaced with transparency that should not be. This is a relatively serious issue for anyone who wants to use these sprites for any practical purpose. These transparent pixels include but may not be limited to pixels that should be #636363. Please see 84.gif (Doduo) for reference, though it occurs to some degree on a relatively large number of sprites.

I understand this is probably because you took the sprites from here, which has the same issue, but there used to be another location with another set.

Here is the location for another set without this issue, but I cannot guarantee they will all be available due to being archived.

Just checking if there's been any progress on this. I would still like to have a good set of these animated sprites to use for my project.

Could you help us and find the right ones and submit a PR?

I have linked an alternative source without the transparency issue in my original post. The thing is since posting this I came across someone aware of the alternative location I linked and was told this set has their own issues (I do not recall what these are), so they may need to be gone through to determine the best animation for each. The best case scenario is that this set is superior in every way. Honestly I do not have the time for going through these myself, and I'm hoping there's someone who does so we can once again have a reliable set of these animated sprite available publicly.

@Flashfyre why not using Spriters Resource?

Or about this, I think wget could scrap the page and get all of the assets (which later should be separated, but a script made by ChatGPT/Bard could handle this).

There is a lot of effort involved in recreating the animations from parts compared to GIFs. I simply don't have the time or motivation for this.
