Hi,

Please consider distributing Hugo as a flatpak package instead of a snap one.

Thanks

instead of

I think you mean "in addition to" because we're not going to eliminate the snap package.

That's better than nothing, I guess.

I am unsure if Flatpak can currently handle CLI software like HUGO.

Yes, it does, and only requires adding /var/lib/flatpak/exports/bin to the PATH environment variable.

For example, after installing Neovim with flatpak install io.neovim.nvim, you can run it with io.neovim.nvim eventually followed by the path of any file on your machine.

Having to write the whole package ID is the only downside, which can be worked around with an alias.

In that case you have my vote as well. However, I was reading Flathub documentation yesterday:

https://docs.flathub.org/docs/for-app-authors/submission/

...and I stumbled upon this flatpak advocate guideline: "When you are making such requests, please be aware that the people you are talking to may be forming their first impressions of Flatpak as a technology and a community. Always remain respectful, patient and courteous even if you face skepticism or dissenting opinions."

I think this is a really good guideline for Flatpak advocates and I appologize for going offtopic here.

I'm sorry if you felt disrespect, impatience or discourtesy from me, I had no such intention, nor of forging a bad impression of Flatpak.
