This happens with the VST plugin: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/209069409-Re-enable-Automation-keeps-lighting-up

AU version is fine. VST3 doesn't show up in Live (also a bug maybe?).

Thanks for reporting this! I've tried re-creating this in Ableton on my machine, but haven't been able to yet. A few useful things that would be helpful to know:

  • which version of Ableton are you running?
  • which version of ChowTape are you running?
  • Is there any actions happening in Ableton that make this issue occur (the article mentioned starting playback)
  • Are any parameters in ChowTape being automated?
  • Are any MixGroups enabled in ChowTape?

Even better: would it be possible to share a small Ableton session with an example of this issue?

As for the VST3 not showing up, could you check that the binary was installed to the right location? It should either be in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 or ~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3. You can get to the location by going to Finder -> Go -> Go To Folder, and pasting in these paths. From there, you could try deleting the plugin file if it is in either of those locations, and running the latest Nightly installer. You could also try re-scanning the plugin folder.

Thanks,
Jatin

I am using Live 11.0.2
Chow Tape 2.8.0

Can't reproduce the Re-enable Automation. Changed to AU and worked fine. Switched back to VST and also fine again.

VST3 doesnt' show up. Installed in the right folder, rescan in Live didn't solve the issue. VST3 simply doesn't show up in Live 11 on my system.

Oh wow, very strange that the automation issue seemed to fix itself! Probably just something going on in Ableton then.

Not 100% sure what's going on with the VST3 not showing up... I wonder, could let me know what you get if you right-click on the .vst3 file and select "Show Package Contents"?

when I right-click on the vst3 I am getting the folder Contents, with subfolders _CodeSignature, MacOS and Resources. The info shows it's 2.8.0

the project in Live I had a problem with is a extreme large one. production of an hour and 30 minutes with loads of tracks and plugins. hard to reproduce in a more simply project...

It seems like all the package contents are correct, so it's very strange that it's not showing up in Live. I'm kind of stumped... have you attempted to load the VST3 version in any other hosts? The only other things I can think of would be to delete the ChowTapeModel.vst3 file and try re-installing it, or resetting the Live plugin cache.

Any update on this behaviour? If possible, it would be nice to test with the latest nightly version to see if the issue is still occuring.
