According to multiple sites, eg https://deviwiki.com/wiki/TP-LINK_Archer_T2U_Plus, the T2U Plus uses the RTL8811AU chipset, not the one described in the README here.

When using this driver, my adapter fails to see 5G networks. Using this one, everything works.

So, a pretty big deal as this name and README for this project seems to be wrong.

i believe the adapter you have might be the new/old hw revision of archer t2u plus

my lsusb output shows :
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 2357:0120 TP-Link Archer T2U PLUS [RTL8821AU]

i am speculating this because similar h/w revisions have caused confusion before , in the case of TP-Link TL-WN722N

could you please comment your lsusb/dmesg output for further researching
