A facility/tool manager may want to notify users about activity that will be happening in a lab on a certain day. For example, if there is construction, cleaning, a tour, or some other short-term event that may impact the lab space but will not actively shut down the tool(s). There is no real problem using a tool/lab if someone is changing the lightbulbs in the lab, but users should be aware that someone will be in there moving a ladder around.

It would be nice to be able to put a notification on the calendar that is not an outage, but just a note to users that something is going on.

I wonder if this could be achieved by creating a resource called "Lab activities" or something like that, then have the relevant tools be partially dependent on it?
I think the missing piece is showing it on the calendar. It shows on the tool control and calendar sidebar, but not the calendar events

It may also be reasonable to have an alert category that:

  • Is visible to only users of a specific tool or space
  • Can be posted by a tool owner or superuser
  • Maybe it's a different color

I don't know if that is easier or harder than the other suggestion.
