Why would T_s ever change? The equation you have written is (including source terms that are not in your PDF)

$$\frac{\partial C_s T_s}{\partial t} = \nabla\cdot\left(k_s\nabla T_s\right) + M \cdot {\tt nonmetal} \left(T_e - T_s + T_p - T_s\right)$$

$T_s$ is 300 everywhere, so the diffusion term contributes nothing. $T_s = T_e = T_p = 300$ in the nonmetal domain, so the sources contribute nothing. Therefore, $T_s$ never changes.

Several issues beyond that:

  • You set both C_s and K_s to zero in the gold and chromium domains. Similarly with C_e, C_p, and K_e in the nonmetal domain. This gives undefined behavior. You're basically saying that the diffusion coefficient is 0/0 in that part of th…
