ONLYOFFICE Document Server roadmap

This document provides the roadmap of the planned ONLYOFFICE Document Server changes.

This is an updated and corrected version of the roadmap. We also reserve the right to change it when necessary.

Version 8.1

All editors

• Continuing work on RTL in the editors core. Support for determining correct alignment for various text types
• Working on support for fonts on the user's machine in a browser
• Ability to open the "file stream" on the client. It is required to support opening and saving encrypted files in a browser
• Working on switching to an "honest cluster", where each server is independent
• Working on private rooms in the browser version via opening on the client
• Switching to the common history for all editors
• Working on support for Screen Readers in the interface
• Support for new types of charts
• Support for trend lines in charts

PDF Editor

• Co-editing annotations in PDF. Ability to save PDF to the file manager

• Improvement of API for implementing custom toolbar buttons into any panel
• Improvement of API for the ability to show the plugin panel on the right

Version 8.0

All editors

• The ability to launch several visual plugins simultaneously (a separate button should be added to the left panel for each plugin)
• Moving background plugins to the Background Plugins button menu
• Moving the option to add a comment to the entire document from the bottom of the comments panel to the settings button
• A button for adding a comment to text in the header of the comments panel (similar to the button in the toolbar)
• Indonesian language id-id (Indonesian (Indonesia)), en-id (English (Indonesia)) in the regional settings
• The ability to set avatars for users using the onRequestUsers integrator event with the data.c="info" parameter and the setUsers method
• The ability to set an avatar for the current user using the editor config: config.editorConfig.user.image (this image will not be visible for other users)
• The interface translation into Serbian (sr-Latn-RS, Serbian (Latin, Serbia and Montenegro)) and Arabic (ar-SA, Arabic - Saudi Arabia)
• The More button on the left and right panels. All buttons that do not fit in height should be placed into it: category buttons, as well as plugins that were opened in the left panel. Remove the separator that separates the category buttons from the plugins
• The setting to enable support for screen readers
• RTL interface support, currently in beta
• Window management buttons should be redesigned to correspond to Linux

Forms

• For the radio button field, adding the setting for the name of the selected element (Radio button choice)
• Chain of tips when working with docxf files
• The .oform format should no longer be supported. Forms should be saved as PDFs with corresponding metadata

Spreadsheet Editor

• The ability to center a sheet horizontally and vertically when printing
• The ability to get a link to the selected range in the viewing mode
• The new Goal Seek functionality. It allows to determine which numbers should be substituted into the formula to get the desired and known result
• A wizard for inserting charts: display a list of recommended charts and previews for all types of charts based on the selected data
• The new Series tool for creating number sequences
• Expanding cell filling settings
• Adding the Expand/Collapse menu item to the toolbar and the context menu of pivot tables

Presentation Editor

• The ability to set the final color for animation effects that change color
• Making animation effect icons inactive if the effect cannot be applied to an object

PDF Editor

• The ability to save changes made in fillable PDF-forms
• The Date Picker for a text form with a date format in PDF

Server

• Adding the formsdataurl parameter to the Callback handler (to replace formdata), which contains a link to the json file with data from filled forms when sending with the Submit button
• Adding the following methods to API: GetFreezePanesType, SetFreezePanesType, and the FreezePanes property
• Adding the GetFreezePanes method and the FreezePanes property to ApiWorksheet
• Adding the ApiFreezePanes class with the following methods: FreezeAt, FreezeColumns, FreezeRows, GetLocation, Unfreeze
• Adding the following methods for obtaining and filling out form data to the Builder of the Document Editor: ApiDocument.prototype.GetFormsData = function(), ApiDocument.prototype.SetFormsData = function(arrData)
• Adding the ApiDocument.prototype.AddDrawingToPage = function(oDrawing, nPage, x, y) method for adding any ApiDrawing to a given page
• Support for mssql and oracle databases
• Adding JSON watermark parameter to conversion.api

Mobile editors

• The ability to switch to the system theme
• Changing the interface for working with forms
• Add formula search and list of recently used formulas in the mobile Spreadsheet Editor

• Working on the common engine for the native part of mobile applications. The ability to download sdk on Android and edit files on portals natively, instead of using the mobile web version

• New interface translation support: 4-letter language designation is supported. Currently it is used for Portuguese (Portugal) and Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan)

WOPI

Version 7.1
