How can one reasonably work towards this goal? Just don't try to build general artificial intelligences?

Don't build software with the purpose of enslaving humans to computers.

Isn't the nature of a programmer, a human who serves a machine? Analogous to a teacher, serving their pupils?

Tongue in cheek response, I admit.
