We want to share a call via Chromecast, and since the TV doesn't have camera or microphone, we'd like to simply watch the meeting. But it gets stuck in the "press to play video" stage. Anyway you could add a query parameter to skip that and automatically play the call?

So, its actually a permission issue. But there are some options:

  • auto play as soon as the permission is granted
  • its installed as pwa
  • the first interaction happend (maybe a click listener on everything?) or join meeting button
  • maybe just try to play video and if it fails just don't try the rest. Maybe the user is using an old browser, some special flags
