Hi Rainer.
I've been following this with interest. I forked the code a couple of days a go to see if I could understand how it worked. However, I can compile the module, but I cant seem to get it to run. I keep getting a module ti.locationtrackerservice not found error.
Do you have any idea why?

It seems like it is confused between ti.locationtrackerservice and ti.locationupdatesservice...

I can't get any version to work either.

I'm working on it.
The new name is ti.locationtrackerservice

Think this is a dirty solution and non conform the rules.
This solution is not safe, because the OS can destroy the stopped activity. Only with forefround service you will get a robust solution.
