Windows Demo: CGAL Lab cannot be downloaded under CGAL6 from https://cgal.geometryfactory.com/CGAL/doc/master/Manual/packages.html#PartGeometryProcessing

Note

Added my @lrineau: the CGAL project should attempt to automatize the publication of the precompiled demos from the master branch. See #8193 (comment)

Hi @ltrbless

I cannot really consider this as an issue until CGAL-6.0 is official published.

You have two possibilities:

  • either you download a precompiled version for released version of CGAL, such as version 5.6.1 (in CGAL-5.6.1 and earlier, the application was called "polyhedron demo"),
  • or you try and compile the application CGAL Lab from the source files of CGAL-6.0-dev, using CMake, Qt6, and all the dependencies.

What do you need that application for?

Thanks for your reply, I would like to use him to test some new CGAL features more easily, e.g. Interpolated Corrected Curvature Measures and Isotropic Remeshing with Sizing Field (https://www.cgal.org/2023/11/20/curvature_and_remeshing/). I compiled a usable version myself, thanks again for your reply.

I understand the need: once the CGAL project announces nice features recently added to the master branch of CGAL, it might be useful for user to be able to test those new features using precompiled binaries. We will think about that and try to automatize the publication of the "demos" for the master branch.

I am glad @ltrbless that you managed to compile the application yourself, and I hope your testing of the new features will be successful.
