The idea is to have a simpler file at somewhere like https://rpm.manageiq.org/##.rpm, which allows for easier discovery on upgrades.

See ManageIQ/manageiq-documentation#1712 (comment) for discussion

Not sure about https://rpm.manageiq.org/15.rpm, because we might need the full 15.0-1 thing (we had a 14.0-2 for najdorf, for example). I think I'd also prefer at least it being in the release folder. So something like https://rpm.manageiq.org/release/manageiq-release-15.0-1.el8.noarch.rpm.

@bdunne Thoughts?

I don't see the advantage of https://rpm.manageiq.org/release/manageiq-release-15.0-1.el8.noarch.rpm, we may as well use the full path.

  • It's very long
  • It has a lot of variable information in it (Major, Minor and Release versions)

My initial thought was a very short link to the version RPM, which would only point to the latest of that version.
Something like https://rpm.manageiq.org/15.rpm or https://rpm.manageiq.org/o.rpm
We may need something more sometimes like https://rpm.manageiq.org/15.1.rpm or https://rpm.manageiq.org/o.1.rpm
