Conformal U-trim in Dimensional form beyond component extent

I set a Conformal inside a default fuselage, set the U trimming to 10 and 20 dimensional, then changed the Fuselage length. It worked just as it should have, conforming the tail as it approached, right up until I tried to set the Fuse length less than 20. VSP crashed then.
