Yandex Map plugin for Rails

Install

script/plugin install git://github.com/PavelTyk/ya_map.git

Example

Generate YML config file and JS

script/generate ya_map

Get API keys at yandex website and copy it to config/ya-map-api-key.yml Initialize YaMap::Map object in controller

def index
  @map = Map.new
  @map.center_zoom_init([53.903499, 27.561741])
end

Display map in your view

<html>
<head>
  <%= Map.header %>
  <%= @map.to_html %>
</head>
<body>
  <%= @map.div %>
</body>
</html>

More about Map

Set map center and Zoom

@map.center_zoom_init([53.903499, 27.561741], 15)

Enable scroll zoom

# Pass an option to initialize method
@map = Map.new nil, :enable_scroll_zoom => true
# Or call a method on a map instance
@map.enable_scroll_zoom

Add Zoom Control to the Map

@map.control_init :zoom => true

Change the position of Zoom Control (with 10px offsets) and set min_zoom and max_zoom values

zoom_control_position = ControlPosition.new ControlPosition::TOP_LEFT, :x => 10, :y => 10
@map.control_init :zoom => zoom_control_position
@map.set_min_zoom 10
@map.set_max_zoom 15

You can insert JS code in different places of YMap initialization process, using record_init_global, record_init_start and record_init_end

@map.record_init_global "alert('Record init global');"

If JS is rather big, I would prefer to do it the view next way:

@map.record_init_global File.read("#{RAILS_ROOT}/public/javascripts/file-name.js")

More about Placemark

Add placemark on the map

@map.add_overlay Placemark.new([53.903499, 27.561741])

Add description, name and icon content to the placemark

placemark = Placemark.new([53.903499, 27.561741])
placemark.extras[:description] = 'Placemark description'
placemark.extras[:name] = 'Placemark name'
placemark.extras[:icon_content] = 'Icon content'

Make placemark draggable

placemark.options[:draggable] = true

Binding variables to JS

Let’s create an observer for a placemark. It’s all about JS, but we need a reference for our placemark in JS. Here is the simplest approach:

In a view:

@map.record_init_end "createPlacemarkObserver(#{@placemark.binding_variable});"

In application.js (for example) define a function ‘createPlacemarkObserver’:

function createPlacemarkObserver(placemark) {
  YMaps.Events.observe(placemark, placemark.Events.DragEnd, function(){
    alert('lat=' + placemark.getGeoPoint().getY() + '; lng='+ placemark.getGeoPoint().getX() + ';');
  });
}

That’s it!

Note

This plugin was written mainly to support the needs of my project flat-on-map.ru
