Describe the solution you'd like

The solution/feature request that I'd like to see in this program is the ability to customize the location of ffmpeg/youtube-dl in a settings section. As in, tell the application where those apps are installed so that they can be used, without having the application inform where to download and how to install.

Additional context

I currently have ffmpeg set to a specific version number (because of Audacity, another incredible application). I used chocolatey on Windows to install that. I'm also currently using yt-dlp to download YouTube and other such videos to include in the sound board. Being able to use those same versions within this application would also be fantastic.

Desktop Environment

Environment:

  • Windows 11 Pro
  • Windows based Installer from the main website

Good idea! It currently uses the one from the installation folder on Windows.
Not sure if you're on the Discord server but we have this message there:

Download yt-dlp.exe from https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/releases/, open C:\Program Files (x86)\Soundux, delete youtube-dl.exe, move yt-dlp.exe in there and rename it to youtube-dl.exe

Download yt-dlp.exe from https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/releases/, open C:\Program Files (x86)\Soundux, delete youtube-dl.exe, move yt-dlp.exe in there and rename it to youtube-dl.exe

Thanks for this! I was able to do that for my brother on his computer and it worked perfectly after doing so.

Also now knowing that it is supposed to pick up the files from the main Program Files directory, I can see why yt-dlp wasn't picked up as when I used Chocolatey, it stores it in C:\ProgramData as compared to it's own place in C:\Program Files (and also that it's yt-dlp and not youtube-dl that it'd be expecting).

I'll be on the look out for the changes when they are ready. Thank you!!
