Right now you're always the same color (default green, but the other presets including custom also end up with you being the same single each game). There are cases where content (mission etc) might want to make you a different color though:

  • singleplayer missions could make you the color of whatever faction you represent. Red for free machines, gold for Dynasty etc.
  • a map-mod might want to have custom colors. For example I recently wanted to make a MtG Pentagram map for 5-way FFA. You are red; allied with green and black; enemy of white and blue. There may be other ways to convey the relationships but the colours are a familiar convention.
  • if we were flavourful/evil PW could have that too.

Add some way to tell the teamcolors widget to step aside and not interfere (or equivalently, to pass it some table of forced teamcolors).
