In recent testing I've noticed some odd differences between IE8 on Win 7 and Win XP (I shouldn't be surprised). On Win 7 my sites look okay, on Win XP they are a mess. I think I've narrowed it down to html5shiv. Here are screen shots from the Developer Tools HTML tab. IE8 on Win XP appears to have empty HTML5 elements.

html5shiv 3.7.3 is in the <head> after CSS stylesheets. I can private message you the website if necessary, although I appreciate Win XP is now a very niche pursuit!
