It seems that when I comment on a blog where someone has selected Markdown syntax for themselves I can use Markdown, but if not I have to write HTML

I prefer Markdown, and this has resulted in a lot of cases where I've written a lengthy comment, hit preview, and found that all my syntax isn't being rendered.

I then have to grudgingly convert it manually to HTML.

Instead the comment fields everywhere on the site should use my preferred syntax style.
