BPBible 0.5.3 was released on 11 January 2016
It included the following changes:

Bug fixes

Fixed a bug which meant that all reference tooltips were showing with a grey line underneath the contents.

Fixed a bug which meant that images didn't show in OSIS books.

Fixed a bug which meant that searches were not permitted if the word didn't occur in the current book (even if related words did).
For example, in the KJV "sloth" could not be used to search for "slothful".

Fixed a bug where highlighting the word searched for produced strange results if the verse had a passage tag.

BPBible 0.5.2 was released on 18 May 2013.
It included the following changes:

Improvements

The display of Strong's Number / morphology information for a book has been improved:

  1. It is possible to have the information for a particular word only show on hover or on click rather than showing all the time.
  2. It now highlights all the other places in the current window where the original language word currently being hovered over is used:

Strong's Number Highlighting

The presentation of text in the version comparison window has been improved.

It is now possible to turn off the orange reference bar at the top right of the Bible window (it will default to off). This was because it would shadow too much of the text.

The layout and typography of the Bible text has been improved.

Bug fixes

Fixed a bug where the error message would never go away if an invalid reference was entered in the quick selector (e.g. John 50:1).

Fixed a bug that prevented daily devotionals from opening correctly in the Chinese locale.

Fixed a bug where in some cases footnotes and headings would never appear.

Fixed a bug which meant that scriptural tooltips would not work when in column mode.

Made handling of the OSIS tag in some Bibles and other books handle more cases.

Removed the tooltip from the search textbox to prevent it from obscuring search text.

Fixed a bug which meant that NT-only books would continue to show "Loading..." if Genesis 1:1 was displayed.

Made line breaks in Robinson work correctly.

Fixed a bug which meant that comments on verses with discontinuous ranges could
cause an error.

Fixed a bug which meant that books in a Right to Left script were being shown Left to Right in the parallel table in the version comparison window.

Fixed a bug which caused crashes when changing fonts or display options after changing the current language.

Fixed a bug preventing the search index from being built with the latest version of the KJV.

Fixed a bug which meant that books containing text in a non-English language would not display anything in column view.

Improvements

Made more of the text show on larger screens to make navigation using Page Up and Page Down more smooth.

Fixed a bug which meant that the search button would not always default to searching the Bible when BPBible was first started up.

Fixed a bug where the current verse would change when changing versions, even if the current verse was on-screen.

Fixed a bug which meant that BPBible would just display "Loading..." if you went to a verse that didn't exist (like Mark 9:46 in the ESV).

Fixed a bug where BPBible would not let you change how Strong's Headwords were displayed.

UPDATE (12/02/2012): A new build (0.5.1.1) has been released to fix the following problems:
BPBible would not start if there were no Bibles installed.

Links between StrongsRealGreek and StrongsRealHebrew caused errors whenever the mouse was over them.

Release 0.5

10 Oct 13:14
Compare
Choose a tag to compare

After many betas, BPBible 0.5 was released on 20 December 2011.
This is a major release using the new rendering engine.
This makes it impossible to document every single changes. The major changes are listed below.

Languages

BPBible can now be used in Nepali.

BPBible now has better support for displaying Right to Left languages (such as Hebrew).

BPBible now has better support for copying from complex scripts (such as Thai).

BPBible now does not fail if searching using the Portuguese locale.

Improvements

BPBible has switched to using a new rendering engine. As a result, many things have been improved or changed. Some of the most noticeable improvements are:

  1. Continuous scrolling: Instead of being restricted to viewing a single chapter at a time, the contents of the book can continue to scroll until the end is reached.
  2. Column view: View a chapter in columns that fit the height of your screen rather than in a single column.
  3. Blocked Strong's Headwords: Display the Strong's headwords underneath the translation rather than next to it.
  4. Colour Code by Speakers: Underline the words said by different speakers in different colours.
  5. Rich text copying: It is now possible to copy formatted text using the Copy Verses dialog. This allows features of the text such as italics and red letter text to be copied.
  6. Separating Daily Devotionals and Dictionaries: Previously daily devotionals and reading planners used to be in the same window as dictionaries. This made it impossible to have a daily devotional at the same time as a dictionary. They are now separate windows.

Changed the dictionary topic titles to try and display the topic name in title case rather than all uppercase.

Added an option to Copy Verses to allow it to copy formatted (which will copy italics and other important properties of the text). Also improved the speed of Copy Verses and Quick Copy for plain text copy.

Changed the settings of where to find books to be stored in the user's home directory rather than in the application directory.

Changed scripture tooltips to display verses in one block rather than one block per verse if the tooltip contains adjacent verses (e.g. 1 Kings 5:3, 4).

Added support for showing in the Book Information window the URL to visit to obtain an unlock key for a book (if it is present in the book's conf file).

Bug fixes

Fixed a bug which prevented topic management from working for users with accented characters in their user name.

Fixed bugs which led to the "BPBible has detected an error" being frequently displayed when the program was closed.

Release 0.4.7

10 Oct 13:10
Compare
Choose a tag to compare

BPBible 0.4.7 was released on 9 August 2010.
It included the following changes:

Languages

Fixed a bug where the bookname language would always display in the menu as Afrikaans after the main language had been changed to a different language (though the bookname language would actually be the main language).

Fixed encoding issues which caused unwanted accents in Spanish.

Made Devenagari scripts larger under Windows 7, since the OS would display them as far too small.

Improvements

If you search for a Strong's Number from the version comparison window, it will now switch the current Bible to the Bible you used to search from. This ensures you will not get no results because the current Bible does not have Strong's Numbers.

If the current Bible is not complete (e.g. it is New Testament only), Guess the Verse will now only show verses to guess that are present in the current Bible.

BPBible has been updated to use the latest version of PLY.

Bug fixes

Fixed an error which caused consistent segmentation faults under Linux.

Fixed a crash when invalid references are entered in the harmony window.

Release 0.4.6

10 Oct 13:09
Compare
Choose a tag to compare

BPBible 0.4.6 was released on 11 May 2010.
It included the following changes:

Language

There are now three new languages BPBible can be used in:

  • Lithuanian
  • Romanian
  • Portuguese

We have also added Nepali Bible book names and abbreviations.

Topic Management

A toolbar icon was added to order topics by passage order.

Added support for coloured topic tags:

Coloured Tag Picker

When clicking on a tag, the passage that was clicked on will now by visible in the passage list on the screen.

Minimised the chance of permissions errors in Topic Management preventing the rest of the application from working.

Prevented crashes when no topic was selected.

Prevented showing a tooltip in the main window from hiding Topic Management if it was the currently active window.

Other enhancements

Prevented BPBible from reloading the verse comparison window if the new passage is contained within the current passage. For example, if you had Genesis 3:1 - 5 open and changed the main Bible window to Genesis 3:2 it would not change the verse comparison window to Genesis 3:2.

Added support for viewing images in an external image viewer. Thanks to warkot for the original patch.

Made the book chooser dropdown include the book description as well as the book name:
BPBible Book Selector

The quick verse selector and the quick search selector now allow non-Latin characters to be entered. It is also possible to paste text into them from the clipboard. If a reference is mistyped then the window will now stay visible to allow you to correct it rather than vanishing.

Added a number of keyboard shortcuts (see the full list).

When the search window is displayed using Ctrl-F, the search text field is highlighted by default.

Linux specific changes

The splash screen was re-enabled on Linux.

Fixed a bug where tooltips would get a temporary entry in the task bar. Thanks to warkot for this fix.

Fixed a bug where saving search results would fail on non-Windows platforms.

Other bug-fixes

A bug has been fixed that caused an "Errors have occurred" message box to appear when BPBible was closed after using Topic Management in Windows.

Prevented excess whitespace being displayed around headings.

Fixed a crash in the "Set Font" dialog when there is a book in the language "Norwegian Bokmal".

Prevented BPBible from crashing when there are too many items in the history.

Prevented a crash in book selection when all books had been filtered out.

Cross references from OSIS commentaries now refer to the current Bible rather than to the commentary.

Made OSIS references to distinct passages appear as distinct passages in the tooltip.

Fixed crashes when using non-English numbers in the header bar (e.g. Hindi/Nepali numbers).

Fixed crashes in rare cases when the system locale fails to load properly.

Made search work better when a stemmed search is performed with an index that was built before stemming was added.

Fixed crashes when building an index with stemming for a Russian text.

Fixed a bug with newer versions of wxPython where unmaximising a window would display every search window.

Release 0.4.5

10 Oct 13:06
Compare
Choose a tag to compare

BPBible 0.4.5 was released on 20 July 2009.
It included the following changes:

Languages

Support has been added for changing the language for Bible book names independently of the language of the application. This allows Bible book names to be used for a number of languages that BPBible has not been translated into.

Comments on passages

Added support for making comments on verses or passages in a similar way to making comments on passages when adding the passage to a topic. These comments are marked by a dagger which allows the comment to be viewed, edited or deleted.

Topic Management

Added support for ordering the passages in a topic by their scriptural order, rather than the order they were added. This makes it much easier to read if you are adding passages as you find them rather than ordering them in a logical order.

Added support for expanding the passages in a topic tooltip, so that it is possible to see the complete text of each passage and not just the comment on the passage.

Added support for changing the passage that is being added to a topic when tagging it. This saves editing the passage later if you decide that you actually wanted to include more or less of the passage than was selected.

Altered searching for a topic in the topic selector to match individual words rather than topic names. This means that search strings like "god name" can match topics like "God > His Name" and "The Name of God".

Made the topic selector always select the first topic displayed in the drop down list of topics when enter is pressed, even if there are multiple topics displayed in the list.

Made the topic selector display the full topic name where possible, rather than leaving part of it off the screen.

Added a topic selector to the Manage Topics window to make it easier to find topics if there are a lot of them.

When a passage tag is clicked on, make sure that the passage entry is visible in the list of passages.

Stopped saved search results from displaying tags by default.

Performance

The speed of selecting and displaying passages has been improved. There are significant improvements to the speed if there are a large number of topics and passages and tags are being displayed.

Other bug-fixes

Fixed errors when writing dictionary search indexes to file.

Release 0.4.4

10 Oct 13:04
Compare
Choose a tag to compare

BPBible 0.4.4 was released on 19 May 2009.
It included the following changes:

Languages

BPBible is now available in Spanish.

Keyboard shortcuts and navigation

Additional keyboard shortcuts have been added for navigation:

  • Ctrl-Up and Ctrl-Down move to the previous and next verses.
  • Ctrl-Left and Ctrl-Right move to the previous and next chapters, as well as the previous and next dictionary entry and other book entry.
  • 'j' and 'k' move to the previous and next verse in Bibles and commentaries, and to the previous and next dictionary entry or other book entry for dictionaries and other books.
  • 'p' and 'n' move to the previous and next search result for the current search in the current book. 'N' can also be used to move to the previous search result. This saves the need to bring up the search dialog to find the next or previous result when reading through all of the results.

Moving back or forward through the history will now return you to the position you were in in the chapter, rather than the selected verse. This is important where you have scrolled away from the current verse and clicked on a hyperlink.

The escape key now dismisses the search dialog and the "Manage Topics" window.

Topic Management

The comment for the passage currently being hovered over in the topic tooltip is now highlighted to make it easier to find what was said about that passage. This comment is automatically scrolled to when the tooltip is anchored.

The topic title is now included in bold at the start of the topic tooltip.

The tags for a passage with multiple verses again appear at the end of every verse, rather than just appearing after the last verse of the range.

Removed a crash when clicking on a tag for a topic that had already been deleted.

Tooltip Handling

Tooltips no longer disappear if the mouse is over a tooltip for a reference in the first tooltip. This is particularly important for topic tooltips which contain a list of references with comments.

Long tooltips taking up the entire screen are now no longer directly under the mouse, since this meant that the links or tags being hovered over could not be clicked on.

Other bug-fixes

A run-time error when deleting a book on Windows has been removed.

A problem preventing books from being able to be unlocked has been fixed.

A bug preventing searching over a custom range (such as Genesis - Numbers) has been fixed.

Two problems with references from the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge have been fixed:

  • Tooltips were not showing for some references from Proverbs and Isaiah, and the references did not work.
  • References to Judges went to Jude or Revelation rather than Judges.
