How would it work?

I mean like in the dropdown menu where it says "Embed", you can embed SC links like you can Youtube links

would need to register an app id with soundcloud first... don't know if anyone could just do it or if there should be an official one for the site.

It would be better to toggle the feature, and set the app id in the config file.
