multi-refs does not work after pandoc 2.15 #11

Running the multi-refs sample on pandoc 2.15 or later, I get this:

The bibliographies are just completely missing. This is the command I used:

pandoc --citeproc --lua-filter multi-refs.lua sample.md -o sample.docx --bibliography bibliography.bib --csl biomed-central.csl
