@dospuntocero on bounties:

i have read your proposal for supporting docpad and i believe its a good idea, but how about a bounty system as well? for example:

  • i'm in the need of a tutorial / example for making a contact form for my docpad site using postmark - im willing to pay 50usd for this
  • i want a tutorial/example on to put random information on my homepage - im willing to pay 20usd for this

so, instead of donate 10/month i can pay 70usd as a one time fee for those 2 tutorials / examples, i know is not that much :( but im a small developer located in chile. but i strongly believe that those examples could help the entire community.

what do you think? is it too much to ask for for that amount of money?

my idea is to add those examples to the kitchensink so everyone in the community can take the benefits of it. if they are well commented that can be helpful enough for everyone.

At this point in time, I'm willing to try anything and everything! We've got the DocPad github repository hooked up to bountysource - which does bounties on issues just like you've asked! - so happy to try that. I think the workflow is to just create an issue on the repository, and copy the issue link into the bountysource issue url bar right at the top of their website. Lets do it!

Ultimately, perhaps a combination of all sorts of revenue options is the way we need to go, and perhaps they all have their pros and cons:

  • Gittip - allows myself to work on what I feel is needed - e.g. technical debt, future innovations, etc
  • Bounties - allows myself to work on what the community says is needed
  • Corporate Sponsorship - allows myself to work on what companies require to implement docpad to their scale

Perhaps this approach is a lot more sound, than a one size fits all revenue model.

hi @balupton i will be interested in paying a bounty or sponsorship (although we are not a company) for a project details of which can be found at TZM/tzm-blade#12

the application is built on nodejs, express and uses blade templating engine

I've updated the copy of our gittip page to better explain the purpose of the funding: https://www.gittip.com/docpad/

Closing due to age. Further discussion probably should go through the new channels for such things:
