Noting the error "Couldn't parse the keyboard mapping file" and the supposed work-around on Raspbian (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=668021), I wonder if it might be possible to provide a simple how-to on how to use DirectVNC?
Also, the DirectFB.org site seems to be offline; how can I check whether my device supports this direct framebuffer approach? When I run directvnc, it hangs, once I use the work-around mentioned above.

Getting the same issue as well with the keyboard mapping on Debian.
Also as far as I understand it is fixed in 0.7.8 but not in the Debian repo.
So you may have the same issue an need to install it manually.
