Currently, the repository-hdfs plugin has docs on how to install and the configuration options/properties, but its missing some of the step-by-step setup details similar to the overall snapshot/restore docs or S3 repo docs.

It would be a good idea to include more explicit examples for this user workflow, for instance:

  • Basic workflow on how to setup the backup repository, like REST calls and config snippet
  • Creating/restoring/getting info on a HDFS snapshot
  • How it works with security enabled, notably Kerberos
