Now that Google Cloud Datastore can be accessed outside AppEngine, IMHO it makes sense to extract out the ORM part from Gaelyk as an independent library so that more Groovy projects, that are not hosted on AppEngine can use it.

sure, and same applies for the rest of the api which can be accessed separately (e.g. GCS).
