The New Tab page used to show about:blank. That page could be modified with Greasemonkey. With Firefox 13, that changed to about:newtab. I would like to modify this page, but that is currently not possible. I suspect that this is the case because that page is implemented in XUL, rather than HTML. Could this be fixed?

This is extremely likely to unchange. Scripts don't get injected into about: pages because this opens gaping security holes. See #1375.
