README FILE FOR SCPS GATEWAY REFERENCE IMPLEMENTATION FOR THE LINUX
OPERATING SYSTEM. FOR THE PERFERRED METHOD PLEASE SEE
README.GATEWAY.TUN|TAP
NOTE: The SCPS Gateway was developed to used the divert socket
functionality, originally developed for the FreeBSD Operating System.
Recently folks at http://www.anr.mcnc.org/~divert/index.shtml have
ported the divert socket to various versions of the LINUX kernel.
Their web site contains pointer to both a complete linux source tree
and to patch files to augment your kernel with the divert functionality.
Please see their web site for source code and how to install it.
If you have any question or problems with divert, please see their
site. They do have a divert for linux mailing list and do their
best to answer questions as soon as possible. Their understanding
of divert for linux is much greater than ours (since they wrote it :-o )
so please contact them if you have problems with divert itself.
In addition to configured divert, you have to make one additional change
to the linux kenrel before recompiling. In the file net/ipv4/route.c
at approxiamately line 1460. You need to comment out the lines
if (dev_out == NULL)
return -EINVAL;
or enclosing then with ifdef like
#ifdef NOCOMPILE
if (dev_out == NULL)
return -EINVAL;
#endif /* NOCOMPILE */
After you have recompiled and rebooted the kenrel see sections 2 through
4 in README.GATEWAY for instructions on how to configure and run the
gateway software.
Also note the SCPS Gateway for LINUX have just recently been ported
so some functionalities may not be fully tested. If you have any
problems with these areas don't hestate to contact us and we
will try and help you out.
