While I was working on #329 , I tried using the viewBox attribute at first. While I wasn't able to fix that particular issue with it, I think it could be useful to have. A user could load the page in full screen, and then resize the page however they'd like without having to scroll.

Great idea. We're using d3.js 3.x. if you look in the docs for that version you should be able to find versions of zoom
