The latest version that is available as snap is - 1.7.1. This version has the tqdm not resolved bug, which was resolved in later versions.

Any update on this?

I'm really struggling to find proper time to read through snapcraft documentation and update the yaml file that controls the snap build. It looks like our version is kind of outdated and it requires some tinkering and I can't do right now. If anyone can PR the snapcraft.yaml it will be great.

I've just tried installing phockup on my fresh ubuntu 22.04 install 3 ways, all threw the tqdm error. I tried via snap, via the non-snap instructions, and via software centre. For each, I tried installing tqdm with pip3 with no luck.

Is there a way I can try installing an earlier working version?

@bowlerhatman are you sure this install is not working? You are basically using the source code directly. The same code works in Docker and on macOS but its just bundled.

I followed those instructions as written, and when I tried to run a phockup command I got the tqdm error. I tried a few times, but will try again tomorrow just in case I missed something. I just copied each line into the terminal one at a time though.

I tried it again, exactly as before, but this time it works. I don't think I did anything differently. I'm glad it's working, such a good tool!
