Based on my own testing and other issues others have filed, this issue will list what is to be fixed to make 0.82.1. References to my own testing as well as other issues will be listed here.

As always, you're welcome to help and submit patches to assist in fixing these issues.

Anything I cannot resolve within a reasonable time frame will be punted to the next release, of course.

SDL 1.x:

SDL 2.x:

Windows support:

• VS2017 Windows XP target (if that's possible, this time). Windows XP support (changing headers in auto-compiler to 5). #336

OpenGL:

• Double aspect ratio correction (a/r is applied TWICE to window dimensions) OpenGL output appears to be applying aspect ratio correction twice #333

CPU cores:

• Remove simple core. Bit rot has made it unstable. The core is also incompatible with multitasking OSes (such as Windows 95). Map to 'normal' to be compatible with existing dosbox.conf files. Mouse emulation:

• Windows builds are reported to have mouse tracking issues, especially when (possibly) fullscreen and (possibly) using Direct3D. Windows builds of SDL 1.x are randomly generating duplicated mouse motion events, causing large random jumps in games #331
• 8255 emulation related to the mouse needs to accept Port C set/reset commands to mask/unmask interrupts as well as through writing Port C directly. Games testing: Metal Force strange behavior with 8255 controller connected to the mouse #349

Code organization:

• Split AVI writer out into it's own directory
• Move MUNT MT32 emulation source code into it's own directory to separate it from the main DOSBox-X source code. MT32 emulation: MT32Emu header files need to be separated from the rest of the files in src/gui #323
• SDL 1.x is deprecated and I'm having issues with it that need to be fixed. Much like Windows builds, Linux builds should pull in SDL 1.x code and compile against that. Reduced dependency on essential third-party libraries to increase portability #192 Once that's done, I can address crashes on my system when SDL 1.x is using PulseAudio output. SDL 1.x audio hangs, PulseAudio pthread_join hang, audio stutter, and changing the SDL output driver is impossible once past SDL_Init. #302

• MIDI MPU-401 IRQ selection (IBM PC and PC-98) if the user wants to use any IRQ other than 2 on IBM PC systems.

dosbox.conf with builds:

• Need to provide a full list of all options in the root directory of the source code. Windows builds should include this file as well, for the user's reference. The file will be called dosbox.reference.conf. No dosbox.conf? #313
