astronomer

Fetch information about the users who've starred a given GitHub repository.

Installation

pip install astronomer

Usage

Before using astronomer, you'll need to generate a Personal API Token. Don't worry, it's easy. After that, using astronomer is as simple as naming the repo and supplying the token:

astronomer jsvine/envplus --token [ENTER TOKEN HERE]

If you don't provide the --token parameter, astronomer will ask you to enter it in a password-style prompt.

Note: Because of GitHub's rate limits, astronomer currently only works for repositories with 4,760 stars or fewer. (Or 99,965 stars or fewer if you're using the --minimal option.)

Options

--format [tsv, csv, json]

Specifies the format in which astronomer outputs the data. Default: tsv.

--outfile [PATH]

Specifies a file to which astronomer outputs the data. Default: stdout.

--minimal

Fetch only the ids and usernames of users who've starred the repo, rather than the full details. Drastically reduces the number of rate-limited requests needed.

--quiet

Silence logging.
