Why only YAML support ?

Frontmatter can be written in YAML, TOML, JSON and more
Mostly all frontmatter packages including this one only support YAML.

Are there any plans on extending this package ?

Yeah, this is a good point. It wouldn't be too big of a change to remove the actual parsing from this lib. Then any parser could be used on the extracted front-matter and this package wouldn't need to track updates to the yaml parser dep.
