This ticket is blocked by :

There is no current support to save MDHistoWorkspaces.

Track dimensions, bins, etc.
Track the original workspace???
Save a field with the signal/error
Add a field with the mask bit on/off for each MDBox.
Also add a field with the number of events field, which is new
