Installation Instructions

Requirements:

- Python 2.6 or higher
- PyYAML Python library
On Windows:
-----------
1. Install Python.
- Downloads of Windows installers are here: http://www.python.org/download/releases/.
- Organize-m was tested with Python 2.6.5. Links to Python 2.6.5 32-bit and 64-bit Windows MSI installers are here: http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.6.5/
2. Add Python to your path.
(In WinXP)
- Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management
- Right-click Computer Management -> Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variables Settings
- Under System Variables scroll to Path. Click Edit.
- Append the path to Python you installed to the end of the values in Variable Value (for example): C:\Python26
3. Install PyYAML.
- Get the latest version for Windows here: http://pyyaml.org/wiki/PyYAML
- There are Win32 .exe installers available for Python 2.6 - 3.1
- Run the installer and accept the default settings
4. Download the latest Organize-m .zip archive from here: http://github.com/marksweiss/organize-m/downloads
5. Unzip into any directory you desire
6. To Run Organize-m
- Open a CMD window
- cd to YOUR_DIR/organizem
- Run Organizem from there, using 'python orgm.py ' followed by the commands documented here: http://wiki.github.com/marksweiss/organize-m/
On Mac or Linux

1. Install PyYAML.
- Get the latest version here: http://pyyaml.org/wiki/PyYAML
- Download and unpack the archive with: tar -xvf PyYAML-X.xx.tar.gz
- Run: python setup.py install
2. Download the latest Organize-m tar archive from here: http://github.com/marksweiss/organize-m/downloads
3. Unpack the archive with: tar -xvf organize-m_vX.XX.tar, into any directory you desire
4. Open a shell and cd to YOUR_DIR/organizem. Run this command to make orgm.py an executable: chmod +x orgm.py
5. - Run Organizem from YOUR_DIR/organizem, using './orgm.py ' followed by the commands documented here: http://wiki.github.com/marksweiss/organize-m/
