I got it to install with brew install libpng freetype and sudo python2 setup.py install.

Before installing freetype, I was getting errors for missing freetype headers. It wasn't obvious that the headers were from freetype.

Maybe change the README.osx file to just give these instructions? The instructions it has are for the removed make.osx file.

This is on 10.8.2 on a brand new OSX install.

Thanks!

Thanks for reporting this @erg : We should be able to squeeze this into the 1.2 release thanks to your timely feedback.

Cheers,

Sure -- as this should be documentation only, I've marked this as 1.2.x to get this in for the final release.

Since @dmcdougall has picked up the baton on this I will close this issue in favour of #1439.

Thanks again @erg
