Just checked and looks fine.
The only thing is... as you mentioned in the SO comment,

you will need to be careful that your figure range and your data range line up (as it will run off to the left and right as well).

There is no mention of this warning anywhere in the documentation, or at least that I could find searching for clip_on. This could be a good oportunity to mention it somewhere.
The result is a little bit unexpected when you zoom or pan one of the clip_on=False plots
