Visual Studio 2022. Windows 10 Home Build19045.3930.

If I open View/Other Windows/ Python Environments and then click on the folder under "Open in Power Shell" and then try to change paths or use the auto config, my PC essentially becomes unusable. Although I can close Visual Studio, Explorer stops working and my usual web browser, Firefox, cannot get to any URLs. They both just show their own versions of the circulating "busy" indication. If I launch Task Manager, it takes several minutes before it comes up. I end the Explorer and Firefox tasks but they exhibit the same behavior when I open them again.

The only thing I can do is restart my PC. I should note that when I restart Windows, I have always used the local 4 digit password, not the Microsoft logon.

I have been unable to get this problem report to be accepted for two days now. It keeps saying that I need to log in even though I am logged in. I have just now restarted and I'm using the full logon process with my hotmail password (rather than the 4 digit passcode). If it is not accepted this time, I'm giving up.

Does it repro only when you open powershell from VS? What if you open powershell outside from VS?

I did not open Power Shell. I meant the location where I tried to modify the environment is the link below "Open in Power Shell" when the Python Environment Window is on screen in VS.

As mentioned in my comment in #7743 I can run the python scripts from a BAT file in which case I see the C:Windows\System32\cmd.exe window until they terminate.
