For things like index pages and Atom feeds pagination is often needed.

Currently it is impossible to create multiple pages from one Node, so either:

make something generic enough that it could be used for pagination (and maybe other things too)
make something that works only for pagination

I'd prefer the former, but if that makes implementing pagination too difficult then go for a pagination-only solution.
