In most applications, whenever information is entered on the keyboard the state of the application changes, and it is desirable to interrupt speech. However, there are applications, notably chat/IM apps, where this behaviour is undesirable. For instance, when typing on the text field of a chatzilla session, it would be desirable that typing would not cut off the verbalisation of the new incoming messages on the chat area. Since the appropriate behaviour is likely to be heavily application-dependent, the ideal would be to have a per-application setting that could be configured to activate or deactivate the interruption.
For those familiar with the JAWS screen reader, I am suggesting a behaviour somewhat analogous to the typing interrupt setting.
