Would it be possible to have a different activity feed view based on this (or a similar) timeline:
http://timeline.knightlab.com/
?
Thanks!

Honestly I find this way too excessive. What people need is not an elaborate infographic but quick access to what happened recently.

The current approach with big tiles is already cumbersome – tries to be playful but really is just confusing. What we need is a clear list with previews of the files and icons for the action which was performed (delete red x, add green +, move → etc).

@PVince81 also something for us to work on or at least start during the workweek?

Ok I agree, that one is a bit too infographic like.

But how about a simpler one like this: http://almende.github.io/chap-links-library/timeline.html
That one could even include important events from the calendar if wanted.

@poVoq that’s pretty much the same, except uglier. As I said we simply need a clear list.

In the future we should also include upcoming Calendar events in Activity but we first need to get the basic design down.

A scrollable timeline does have the advantage though that you can easily and quickly look up past events, while the current system or any kind of twitter like feed will (easily) only show you the most recent events.

@poVoq you can simply scroll down in the activity view as well. If you mean the very slow loading of additional events, yes we need to fix that.

yes, but you can not zoom out or quickly flick through it.

@poVoq if you want to help us make Activity more awesome, help is very much appreciated. If you want to submit a pull request that would be really cool – please check out what I said above: #7068 (comment)

What about a compromis? like a timeline on facebook. you could search like in @poVoq s timeline and it is like a list as @jancborchardt suggested.

facebook timeline is imho the same: its a list of past events and its scrollable. i mocked up (based on a facebook screenshot)

The design of the Activity app is being worked on in owncloud-archive/apps#1769 – please review and help so we can get it in for ownCloud 7.
