to answer my own question and for others who might wonder the same way, helm support was stopped back in v0.19 - see https://www.pomerium.com/docs/deploy/core#helm

now my next wonder is if pomerium can be used with in istio mesh when setup as ingress controller as well

To answer my question yet again, there is a tutorial that addresses this very scenario. Didn't get to try it out yet
