Version

2.2.0
This has been around for few years , as far as I can remember.
There are other reports of the same defect dating 2 years or so.
It greatly diminishes the value of multi-material printing.
Here is my model which has the missing bottom interfaces marked with red.
The top interface layer is generated and printed fine.
There could be a setting for enabling/disabling bottom interface layers.
This could be more useful.

To reproduce

  • Select support on build plate only
  • Slice something that requires bottom & top support interface layers.

If you select, supports everywhere, then it is generated.

Here is the thread in the forum.

No data provided, however I suppose the issue will be solved by trimming the support columns with the object silhouette. In that regard it is a duplicate of #915 #1340

1) If "support on build plate only" is enabled, the support columns are
newly trimmed to not land on top of an object. However this may make
the column too small to be stable.
2) Support enforcers newly take precedence over "supports on build plate only"
   and over "don't support bridges".
3) Some refactoring of the support generator code for clarity: Reduced
some of the worst spagetti offenders.
