Yep, experienced same high cpu at random

In the exact same environment, I'm seeing a consistent 13% when in the background and 23% in the foreground. Using "App Tamer" gets that down to around 2% average, which seems reasonable.

Same here.
AppPolice (free and available from homebrew) also does the job of reducing the CPU usage.

Confirming same behaviour. In ~3 hours it drained the more energy than my other apps in 12h period .

P.S. found out that it was PB because my laptop fans were spinning on max.
