In ubuntu 18.10 gedit was replaced by Snap "Text Editor"
The icon accessories-text-editor.png falls back to default GNOME icon (attached pictures)

That's a snap issue
Open up a new thread on snapcraft.io and close the issue here @snwh can't do anything about that.
