Frigate LXC container without Docker #2711
-
I've just managed to create a "script" with which you should be able to create a fully working Frigate LXC container, without Docker. I've described the process here: @tteck Would you be willing to accept this as a "Proxmox Helper Script"? Thanks! |

I personally don't use Frigate, but there have been numerous requests for a version that doesn't require Docker. While I can't confirm its efficacy or even if it works correctly, this version leverages hardware acceleration, USB passthrough, Coral drivers, TensorFlow, FFmpeg, and more—all without Docker. |

I’ve tried so many of NVR software, none of them were perfect: Shinobi, Viseron, AgentDvr. These apps have some nice features which I miss in Frigate. But Frigate does it’s job without nag-screens or counter-intuitive configs. I’ve decided upon to stick with Frigate. |

I get crashes every 2-3 days or so, probably because of memory leak. I have a usb coral, but I don't think it's because of usb disconnection. My coral tpu seems steady. On the other hand I see memory usage constantly getting higher and higher and even 4GB allocated to the lxc seem not enough.

I have everything installed and working perfectly with your script in a test environment. However I would like to know how can I update this to beta version? My actual Frigate is installed as an addon on Home Assistant in a separate machine and working with Coral USB and I want to move it to my Proxmox server but I don’t like Frigate old versions. I would need the new UI beta version. If anyone knows how to use this solution but with the beta version, I would appreciate it. Thanks anyway for your help and dedicated support. Edit: With the author’s permission, I have edited the script myself to use the latest beta version and so far everything is working well. I’m still testing. Thanks to the author for making this possible. |

Maybe I missed it but will there be a way to update fridge when newer versions come out or will you just have to rebuild the container? |

I am having problems with Frigate and my 5700XT not being detected. The coral USB works like a charm but not the GPU. Any good guide to passthrough the GPU to this LXC container with Frigate ? Thanks |

Tried the remz1337 script as I want to use the TensorRT detector with an NVIDIA GPU - the initial LXC Creation errors out with the following (when I run the bash link for frigate.sh via shell on host): [ERROR] in line 11: exit code 0: while executing command pct exec $CTID -- /bin/bash -c "apt install -qqy curl &>/dev/null" /dev/fd/63: line 200: pop_var_context: head of shell_variables not a function context Am I missing something? I tried the exact same settings as another user above that claimed to be able to get past the same error by choosing Enable Verbose in advanced setup but that didn't work for me The tteck script works fine, just that I wanted to see how well using TensorRT plays out for detection.
