World Locations that have guaranteed enchanted Gear as rewards. Every time you win a Siege, you collect the reward and there's a 50% chance that the Vault will escalate to the next encounter-level and generate a new garrison and reward (otherwise it's removed).

Actually, most non-consumable Items could be guarded in Vaults. Gear is the obvious choice as it is most likely to be useful to any Squad so it should probably be a 50% chance, with a 50% for other relevant types from Staves to Eidolons.

ELs for which Gear rewards cannot be generated would guard Precious Objects instead. A range of ELs 1-15 would be ideal.

Vault Monsters should probably be themed from these types:

  • Aberration
  • Construct
  • Dragon
  • Magical beast
  • Ooze
  • Outsider
  • Plant
  • Undead
  • Vermin

If a Vault is restocked, it uses the same type as before, representing a deeper area or floor.

The full description of a Vault should show the type of Monster and Reward, same for the Siege prompt - once at least one Fight is won (started, ideally), both are permanently revealed. A description by Tier could also be welcome with Great Vault for Mid-tier and Greater Vault for High-tier.

Vaults are rare (represented by spawn rate) long-term safeguarding Locations for whatever purpose of its creators. While the Monster type is simply how the creators chose to safeguard the treasures inside, the structure itself is lawful and this is represented to the player by the Fight Map: horizontally symmetrical; strong and wide walls; blocky rooms for maximum visibility, few obstacles or wall decorations... The space is neatly divided into sections, which can then easily by mirrored to the other side. Something like this.

A Vault-themed Branch #317 would be possible (Guarded branch of safeguarding). The Feature would be Vault Fights, which works exactly like a Siege on a Vault Location, with the same rewards except they never restock (as there are many in the Branch already).

A single Monster type would be used per Branch, as with the Locations.

Criminal Towns could have Quests to find Vaults. As long as one Vault hasn't been discovered, the player is tasked to find its exact location.
